Did you know that 1 out of 20 medical diagnoses is incorrect?

This helps explain…

  • There are about 10,000 diseases, but only about 200-300 symptoms.

  • Doctors tend to specialize in one type of disease, so naturally, that’s how they may interpret your symptoms – through the “lens” of the diseases they treat most often.

What you can do:

For every diagnosis...

  • Ask the doctor...What else could I have?

  • Get a 2nd opinion — or even a 3rd, if necessary.

  • Ask the same questions of each doctor so you can compare.

The Care Partner Project offers a handy checklist with questions to ask. You can also count on me to help you find doctors – and manage those crucial conversations!

Getting the right diagnosis is critical to getting the right treatment for you.
